D.O.A….. that’s about the best I can say for us right now. We just got home from our 2 week, 4 city, Christmas tour. We grossly underestimated the toll that such a trip would take. The constant travel in the midst of the busy holiday travel bubble, the ever changing hotel rooms, time zones, and climates... lugging around the 5 suitcases needed to have clothes appropriate for the warmth of L.A. and Phoenix and the cold at 9300 feet on Roosevelt Ridge… WHEW... We both arrived home sick… and feeling like doing absolutely NOTHING for the foreseeable future.
We started in L.A… I attended the school Christmas party which was incredibly fun, and another dinner with close friends. (Lu you had a wonderfully elegant dinner for us.) We shopped some, and went to Mike’s Big Band event. It was a busy time.. but we were still fresh.. WAY back then.. at the beginning of this trip.
Then came Colorado and a visit to the new property on Roosevelt Ridge. We tromped around in the snow.. met a curious new neighbor (a beautiful buck) and met with a potential architect/builder. We felt at home in Boulder and the St. Julien Hotel and Spa where we stayed. I really love the property and I’m excited about the opportunity to be a part of building a new community. Lots of planning to do, and a house to sell, but I'm really looking forward to this next stage in our life together.
Christmas in Phoenix with Jenna and Tim was wonderful… though exhausting. I found myself cooking all of the usual feast food AND baking Christmas cookies all in one day… add to that a day of shopping, dinner with the new boyfriend etc etc... I may be too old for that kind of frenzy.
We were very happy to be there with the kids but it was the little Victorian bulldog puppy HOMER who stole the show this Christmas. What a funny, fearless puppy. Homer was fascinated with all things Christmas and viewed everything as edible. Chocolate candy AND the wrappers, eggs benedict, Christmas cookies, Christmas tree LIGHTS.. This little guy has an incredible personality.
Post-Christmas in St. Louis was filled with family.. A rare sighting of my little brother Kirk, and a get together at moms. We stayed in the loft with David and really enjoyed loft living with the great city views, walking to dinner, even the fairly comfortable pull-out couch. David is a good fit for loft living, and it's clear that he is doing a good job of taking care of things there.
Now we’re regrouping. We have a little more than two weeks to recover before we fly to Buenos Aries to begin our 14 day South American cruise to Santiago, Chile. Right now that doesn’t sound like much fun.. but I’m trusting that we’ll recover before we leave. Stay tuned for vacation snaps.
In the meantime.. catch HOMER's gallery and a few photos of family and friends.
