OurIslands Redesign In Progress
OurIslands gets a new look to fulfill an old purpose.

So... we're up on the island in Canada, business is slow, and I have lots of time on my hands. The logical thing to do is to finally redesign ourislands.com. Our former home site, ourmaineisland.com will be officially closed. After all, we don't actually live on a MAINE island any more.

Our new web home is designed to be easy to maintain and update. The CMS is driven by BIG MEDIUM software, a friendly easy to use system that is just perfect for our small site. Our infamous photo albums will now be managed by SlideShowPro combined with SSPAdmin hopefully making it more likely that I'll get the latest and greatest of our home pix posted promptly.

Our personal site started as a cathartic journal. A way for me to explain to my far flung family and friends just what I was doing off in Maine, starting a new life and as importantly, explaining it to myself. Through few words and lots of pictures I tried to illustrate what this island lifestyle was all about. Our few but faithful visitors, seemed to enjoy my online journal.

The purpose of this site has not really changed. I'm still clarifying our life for myself and the others who wander into our corner of cyberspace. I'm still working through the joys and challenges of living life at the very ends of one road.. U.S. Hwy 1.

Do drop us a note and let us know if you enjoy the new look, feel, and content. And welcome to OurIslands..

Karen (for Michael and Ralph)
