Bats in the Belfrey

Bats in the Belfrey
Up close and personal with a tiny island resident.

This photo was taken just after our little island friend was removed from up under my hair just above my ear.. . YIKES…

This morning we discovered that three little bats had taken up residence under the umbrella over the table on the deck. I suppose they got spooked by all of us watching them and decided to fly to a quieter place to take their daytime nap.

This little guy, however, flew directly to my shoulder, then climbed up my neck and burrowed into my hair. And interesting feeling to say the least!! Our island friend, and island guest, John, removed him, while Mike and Emily fled into the house to watch from the window… chickens!!

Cute little critter eh? Bats are very good for island living.. They are dedicated to eating mosquitos. You've got to love that... But I think I’d prefer that they take refuge somewhere other than my hair!
