Christmas 2006 was one of those years when it just wasn't possible to bring the whole family together to celebrate.
The boys all work retail jobs and getting time off anywhere near the holidays is impossible.
My double knee replacement surgery made it impossible for us to make our planned trip to Phoenix and St. Louis for a double Christmas celebration.
But, even though we were separated by many miles, the celebration of Jesus' birth and the joy of being together as a family continued.
Keith and Cathy hosted the St. Louis Christmas celebration. By all accounts it was a gala event.
Jenna flew to Key West to cheer her gimpy mother through a quiet but loving Christmas. Jenna and I worked hard together in the kitchen to make a lovely dinner for our good friends John and Sue and their niece Beth. I certainly could never have accomplished so much without Jenna by my side.
Only Tim was, unfortunately, left alone in Phoenix. He filled his time by taking work shifts others, with family celebrations to attend, didn't want to take. We all, eventually caught up with him by phone and certainly missed his presence..
What would we do without the magic of digital photography. The shutter clicks capturing the moment, and the pixels fly through cyberspace to bring family members far away right into the celebration wherever it is.
